IMPORTANT – Response to recent Zimbra Outage.
What’s managed hosting?
If you take advantage of managed hosting, it means that all updates and technical bells and whistles are handled by your hosting company (that’s us). It becomes our responsibility to configure your web space properly in the first place, to make sure updates are applied promptly and properly, to sort out any conflicts arising from the updates (it happens sometimes) and to keep your services running smoothly. Ideally, you won’t even know an update’s happened, while your competitors are sweating over why their website’s down and email ain’t flowing.
What’s the benefit?
There are several. You can rest assured that your critical business services are running smoothly in the hands of experts who are monitoring them 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can concentrate on what you do best without having to give your attention to running IT services. You can afford to run exactly the right services for you, rather than making budget-based decisions. Your IT services will always be up-to-date and never running to catch up. You always have somewhere to turn for expert help and advice. And that’s just for starters.
We can deliver our managed hosting services direct to the consumer or as a scalable white label service. We routinely handle the transfer in of existing sites and services, dealing with your existing provider on your behalf, and we can set up entirely new projects for you.
We can host your email whether or not we look after any other services for you. Left to our own devices we prefer to use Zimbra to provide you with business class email and collaboration services (document storage, shared calendars, syncing across multiple devices etc), but we can also set up the tin cans and string to deliver email across other platforms.
We routinely get called to emergency situations. If IT’s all getting too hot to handle we can dig you out of trouble, deal with your existing third party IT services and contracts, host your services on our servers, or a little bit of both.
PS We’re not web designers, graphic designers or brand specialists, nothing that flash, though we often work with people who do that sort of thing very ably. We look after the invisible stuff behind the scenes, the bits of the internet most people don’t even realise exists til it’s done badly and goes *BANG!*.
